🌿 Have you ever experienced something that changed your life? What was the trigger?
And what helps you keep going after that change? Is there anything you do to maintain motivation or stay productive?
As for me, hypnotherapy was the starting point that completely transformed my life — a 180-degree shift. Before that, I was truly overwhelmed with stress and living a dark life. I had been an unemployed housewife for over 10 years.
It was around 2011 when I began turning my life around. Now I’m based in New York and, well, I run my own business offering services to people all over the world.
During the pandemic, I lost all my clients, but I later made a comeback online, and now I have more online clients, especially from Japan. These days, only a small number of people come to my Manhattan office. When I think about that, I feel grateful for the pandemic. Before the pandemic, I had no choice but to see clients in person at my office. So yes — I’m thankful for the pandemic!
I returned to New York in 2013, launched my company in 2015, published a book in Japan in 2017, and then published in the U.S. in 2020.In the meantime, I also lost about 25 kilograms (≈60 lbs). That happened because, as I released negative emotions and let go of the past, my stress decreased, and I naturally started eating less. That’s how I lost the weight.
Of course, life has its ups and downs. To maintain a good mindset over the long term—the key is how to respond when motivation dips or when you feel like you're about to break.
Of course, compared to before, I can say the frequency and intensity of feeling broken down have really improved.Still, there have been times when things didn’t go smoothly — like when I had zero clients during the pandemic.
In my case, here’s what I do:
When I’m mentally and physically tired and can’t feel positive, I don’t overthink — I just go to sleep by the next morning, I’m usually back to my normal self.
Before bed, I practice visualization. I sleep 7–8 hours. But the brain keeps working even while we sleep. If I go to sleep stressed, I end up having bad dreams. To make the most of those 7–8 hours, I make sure to go to bed with good thoughts.
First thing in the morning, I create time to return to myself — through meditation, visualization, audio tools, or breathwork.
I’m mindful of what I eat. I’ve read that 95% of the happiness hormone serotonin is produced in the gut. So when digestion is poor, you have fewer chances to feel happy.
That’s why eating well and maintaining good digestion is essential.
I also exercise. Yoga is especially helpful. In Eastern medicine, it’s believed that organs and parts of the body are linked to emotions. When we can’t release those emotions, it can lead to pain or illness. So physical maintenance is important to improve energy flow as well.
I use hypnotherapy to thoroughly release and heal negative emotions. Thanks to that, I’m able to manage things with the kind of maintenance I mentioned. As the saying goes, “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.”
When you get rid of the root of negative emotions, the little smolders in your everyday life become much less frequent.
And!I’ve actually found a new way to deal with stress!I started learning a framework called Tufti earlier this year.Since then, I can’t even remember the last time I raised my voice or got truly angry. My emotional fluctuations have really decreased — and I’ve powered up!
What about you?How do you maintain focus and motivation in the midst of stress?
Do you have any little tricks, routines, or ways of shifting your mindset? If so, I’d love to hear them. 💬Your way might become someone else’s powerful hint.
