Live like Rocky Balboa
Hello!
“Let me tell you what you already know. The world is not sunshine and rainbows. It is very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.
You or nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it is not about how hard it hits, it is about how you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward.
That is how winning is done! Now you know what you are worth and go and get what you are worth! But you got to be willing to take the hits and not pointing fingers and say you are not what you want to be because of him or her or anybody!
Cowards would do that and it is not you. You are better than that! I always love you no matter what. No matter what happens. You are my son and my blood. You are the best thing in my life. But until you start believing in yourself, you are not going to have a life. Don’t forget to visit your mother. “
This is a quote from the movie of “Rocky Balboa”. Yes, the Rocky of Mr. Sylvester Stallone. Actually this quote is from the latest movie of the Rocky series that Mr. Stallone wrote and directed.
The first Rocky was made in 1976 and he was inspired by the boxing match of Mohamed Ali and wrote this story. I read that some people were interested in the story though Mr. Stallone was not their interests first. Some people wanted to buy the story but not him that I read.
Mr. Stallone was an unknown actor and in the movie, the Rocky was a doubt collector, uneducated. The movie made such a splash and five more movies were made in the series up to today.
Mr. Stallone became one of those most successful actors and film makers in Hollywood over the time.
I happened to watch this movie the other day. To be honest, probably not so many people had high expectations on another Rocky movie including me. However this movie was well made.
The quote is true, isn’t it? We all want to have a right reason not to challenge any more. It is maybe about job, education, family or anything feel everyone so right about not to make any moves or not to do anything new or challenging in our lives.
In this movie, Rocky’s son was in the shadow of the father and was living unhappy. For him, it was the father’s fault why he can’t succeed or feel right about his life. He got a famous and respected father and he felt he was no good.
In this scene, Rocky decided to go against the greatest undefeated heavy weight boxing champion in the world. The champion lost competitors because he became undefeated one. He underestimated Rocky and was so sure to beat him bad.
Rocky was recovering from Adrian’s death, which probably happened in the previous movie, I guess. He was living in the past and Adrian’s brother even got fed up with Rocky’s grieving. There was no moving on or living present for Rocky then.
Rocky somehow tried to come out of this shadow and motivated to do something meaningful or can stir up his own passion. Of course, it is boxing. It was initially a local boxing match but turned out to be an exhibition match with the greatest champion.
I say that he was born as a fighter to inspire the world. In the past, I remember the scene that even Adrian told him that he couldn’t win so he shouldn’t fight any more. In the previous movies, there were strongest competitors came around with him.
Even the greatest love of Adrian didn’t believe in Rocky. It was about fear for her to lose Rocky. The fear clouded her belief in Rocky.
Rocky always fought going against everyone else in the world including Adrian to pursue his challenges. He was the only one person who believed in him, I say.
I am not sure if Rocky believed in his win at all in the past. However I feel more like that he had to fight because he was born to fight.
Of course he had to overcome his own fear to his own death in the matches. However I feel like he just had to do it because that was his heart told him.
All those crazy ideas going against greatest champions in the last movie, he was probably in his 60’s and the champion was in his 20’s.
Seemed like he was waiting for the moment to burn his passion again. Something inside him left over, he said. That was passion to fight.
Rocky was serious and trained himself well. It looked like for me it was nothing to do with winning any more. Probably since long time, winnin
